Pre-ETS includes five foundational services:
Job exploration counseling
Work-based learning experiences
Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in post-secondary education
Work place readiness
Instruction in self advocacy
Stand Up provides supports in work-based learning, instruction in
work place readiness and in self advocacy.
Pre-ETS is a service provided to anyone ages 14-22 with a documented disability. The goal of this service is to prepare students for the transition from school to work.

Work Based Learning Experiences:
Stand Up provides short-term Work-Based Learning activities, including workplace tours, job shadowing, informational interviews, short job tryouts, etc. to students in individual or group settings. These services are provided by utilizing Stand Up’s employer network, or expanding contacts based on the needs of the individual. These activities are available in all areas that SUI serves and are available at times throughout the school year and summer. These services are geared towards providing individuals with information and guidance as they prepare to enter employment within the community.
Work Based Experiences:
Stand Up provides paid and unpaid placements with a single business for individuals who would benefit from a longer term work experience. Working with the counselor, customer and our existing network of employers, Stand Up will arrange a work experience guided towards the needs and interests of the individual. Group settings are available, and groups are determined in collaboration between Stand Up and DARS. Services are available in the summer for all localities in which Stand Up provides services.
Transportation training:
Stand Up will provided transportation training to individuals within their community in order to teach the skills necessary to successfully navigate their community independently. Stand Up will support individuals in determining and securing transportation options for their locale. Services may include learning bus routes and how to access and utilize public transportation, identifying possible ride share options, and utilizing services such as Uber, Lyft, taxis or paratransit. Days and times of this service are flexible and are determined by the needs of the individual.
STEP:
The Student Transition Employment Program (STEP) is a partnership between local city or county school districts and Stand Up, Inc.
The program is designed to aid participants in learning the necessary skills to become successful in a competitive workplace environment. STEP is conducted in a group setting, typically 5 students.
Work sites are developed by Stand Up, Inc. working with participating local businesses. Work sites are selected to provide transferable skills that will be beneficial in seeking employment after high school.

Through various classroom and hands-on learning experiences, the students will leave the program having learned valuable social skills, interpersonal communication skills, work ethics, safety training, and many other concepts related to the workforce.
